Skywatch Fridays 4/15

This is sort of a memorial post as well as for Skywatch Fridays....

By the time I get home from work tomorrow, this funky old, dead cherry tree will be nothing but a spot of sawdust.  The tree company is coming in first thing to cut it down & grind out the stump.
Check out that lovely blue sky!!

The realtor told us this tree was dead when we moved into the house in late 2002.  But it bloomed and had cherries (granted they were really sour!) every year until last year when it finally gave up the ghost.   It was pretty neat for a backdrop for my Halloween display, too.
Also being removed with the cherry tree are these 2 lovely dead pine trees from the back yard!
The one fell back in November during our first heavy snow.
I'm excited to come home tomorrow!

  1. One lovely side effect from losing old trees is that it opens up the yard with room to plant and grow a tree of your choosing! Cherry wood, and even pine can be used to make some wonderful things if you know someone who has a table saw who could make you a few boards.

    1. Well, as of 4/19 - the trees are still out there! The guy has postponed on us twice, due to injuries on his crew, training new people, etc. But he's supposed to be out tomorrow and we're supposed to get $100 off the cost and he's going to remove a ratty bush that is between the pines at no cost. Fingers crossed!
