A big name that is associated with Detroit is the Ilitch family.
Mike Ilitch (7/20/29 - 2/10/17) founded Little Caesars Pizza and owned (Ilitch Holdings was turned over to his son Christopher in 2000) both the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers franchises. He owned Olymipa Entertainment (aka owns or manages the Wings, the Tigers, the new Little Caesars Arena, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Hall, Comerica Park, Fox Theater, City Theater - to name a few!) He also bought & renovated the Fox Theater (next door to the Hockeytown Cafe) and his headquarters are located there.
Fun fact #1 - each of his 7 children's names are engraved on the NHL Stanley Cup in 1997 / 1998 / 2002 / 2008, due to owning shares of the Red Wings.
Fun Fact # 2 - in December 2016, he was #86 on the Forbes 400 Richest Americans, with an estimated net worth of $6.1 BILLION. I offer myself for adoption!!
Fun Fact #3 - he was a USMC veteran
IBEW local 58 hall - I just added this because my Dad was a member and when I was a kid, spent many a Labor Day at the hall after the annual Labor Day parade, eating hotdogs, etc.
With 7 kids he needs all those billion$$!
