Explore Detroit - L #atozchallenge

Come along with me and explore the beauty & general awesomeness of Detroit, A to Z !

Little Caesar's Arena - is the new home of both the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Pistons (leaving the Palace of Auburn Hills to be likely redeveloped into a "high-tech research park" like most of what is in that area).
Fun Fact (not related to this letter) - Bob Segar's 17th sellout concert at the Palace was the final event held there in late September 2017.  He apparently was a huge Piston's fan and was frequently seen at games.
(this is a mock up, but it looks cooler than the Little Caesar's pizza guy that's actually on top of the dome).

As with Comerica Park and Ford Field, the rink / court is built 40 below street level.
As you can see from the overhead photo, the outermost buildings holding Red Wings' offices, the box offices, and retail spaces are actually outside of the arena, but are connected by a glass-roof, creating the concourse area.

This is very interesting, since it's the 4th largest library system in the US.  This main building is the administrative offices, and there are 23 branch buildings throughout Detroit.   This first Detroit Public Library was opened in 1865 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

OMG - the art!!  How can one concentrate on finding something to read when there's so much to look at!
