Explore Detroit - F #atozchallenge

Come along with me and explore the beauty & general awesomeness of Detroit, A to Z !
The Detroit Lions moved to Ford Field from the Pontiac Silverdome (which was recently imploded) in 2002.  It was built on a 1920s Hudson's warehouse (which I didn't know until I was researching this post - but also explains a lot of the decor!)
Fun fact!  Both Ford Field and Comerica Park are built with the playing fields 45 feet below street level - to prevent them from being obnoxiously prominent in the skyline.

My kid has danced at several Thanksgiving Day Lion's game halftime shows, including for Nickleback & Kid Rock, but we've never gone to an actual football game there!

However, every year since 2001, we've gone to first the Pontiac Silverdome and then here to Ford Field to see Monster Jam!

  1. Very cool! One of our goals was to visit every major league ballpark in the US when we retired. Thanks for sharing this just in case we don't make it. How convenient that the football and baseball stadiums are right next to each other!
