I am really, really bummed that I didn't have my camera with me on the day of my reenlistment!
The Lincoln was in drydock for Extended Drydock Selected Restricted Availability - EDSRA in 1996. Work was going on all over the ship. The career counselor and supply officer came to the post office, but it was so loud in there that plans had to change. Some brilliant person, I don't remember who - suggested going UNDER the ship - in the bottom of the drydock!
So we all trooped down and my re-enlistment was held between the rudders.
I recently got a Facebook message from one of the guys who'd been in our group of Shenanigators. He hasn't been on FB long so I was happy to hear from him. He told me he had a bunch of pictures from my re-enlistment and also from Wog Day when we crossed the Equator (See "I") and even some from the bridge! Then he asked if I wanted them!?!?!? I had no idea pictures existed, so YES! I want them. I was really hoping he would have sent them by now, but sadly, no. Hopefully soon.

I'll forever be grateful to my husband's sponsor who took pictures through the Chief's Initiation process and gave them to me so that I could make an album to give to my husband as a gift at his pinning ceremony. I hope you get your pictures soon!
ReplyDeleteSigh. I'm still waiting!

ReplyDeleteIt really is. I caught up with a bunch of girls from bootcamp and high school and such.
