#AtoZChallenge - Halloweeeeen!

Hi, Welcome to my little corner of the Interwebz! I'm doing a pretty random theme this year - things that make me happy / are guilty pleasures / whatever makes me... ME!

Did you really expect anything other that this for my H post?  Yes, I could have done horses, but Halloween is my jam.

I started decorating my yard in 2008 and it's grown from there.   I don't do blood & gore.  I have a battalion of skeletons that do goofy things.  It might be a tiny bit spooky, but nothing terrifying.
It's so quaint.
The only light comes from the ghost & jack-o-lantern blowmolds and there's ONE lonely skeleton.

I cut out plywood shapes and painted headstones - all of which are still being used today.  Some have had new names put on them, and all have been textured (and sealed) with DryLok and "aged" using shades of green and brown paint.  I installed U shaped conduit hangers on the backs that slide easily over dowels, rebar or fence posts to stand them up.

And WHY can I not find any daylght pictures from last year????
I now have plenty of lights.  A fence to prevent kids from taking a short cut on Halloween to get their candy.  An official sign.

This shack is the newest addition.  I saw the window sitting next to someone's trash can on my way into work last May and thought about it for 2 miles before I heard a line in a song on the radio saying "oh, you'll regret it".  So I turned around and got it.  Spouse is my idea man and came up with this shack that collapses for easier storage.

I have 1 - 6 1/2 foot skeleton
9 - 5 foot skeletons
2 - 4 foot skeletons
7 - 3 foot skeletons
(not counting Chuck)
a horse & pony
3 Beagles & several other dogs
several cats
a bunny
a flamingo
a vulture
2 monkeys

I'm sure you're wondering - where do I keep all this stuff?
We have a 4 foot deep shed across the back of the garage.  The blowmolds & coffin (also is storage) go in half of that.  The shack folds up and fits in the other half, with the patio furniture.  The sign, headstones, fencing and animal skeletons are in the shed with the BBQ grill and lawn mower.  The rest of the skeletons are hanging up in the garage next to the totes of holiday stuff.

  3. It must take you days to put up and take down all that. What a treat for the kids.

    1. Yes, it does. I start the day after Spawn's birthday on 9/29 and get the fence, sign & headstones put out. The rest comes out here & there. But on November 1 - it all comes down!

    1. There's like nobody else in my neighborhood that does anything. A couple houses a few streets over, but that's it. I drove around looking for decorations last year and was just sad.

  6. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. I love that you really go all out - but it's nothing too gory and scary!
