#AtoZChallenge - Geocaching

Hi, Welcome to my little corner of the Interwebz!  I'm doing a pretty random theme this year - things that make me happy / are guilty pleasures / whatever makes me... ME!

Today's topic is Geocaching!

In a nutshell, Geocaching is a treasure hunt.

Someone places their cache (can be any size, as long as there's room for a logbook) and makes a page on the website with the GPS coordinates.  Then it is fair game for someone to use those coordinates to find the cache.  Signing the enclosed log proves that you have indeed found it, but you also make a log on the page online, too.

Cache's can be hidden almost anywhere. They're all over the world.  Some are easy, some aren't.  Some have multiple steps you have to follow.  You can search the website based on location and difficulty to find one near you!

Let me tell you, it's a lot easier than it used to be!  Or maybe Spouse made it that way.....?  idk.   But we'd enter the coordinates into our Rino's (GPS) and print out the page for the ones we wanted to look for.  Now it's all right there in your phone, both GPS and pages.
This is a "micro" cache - a film canister with a ziplock baggie & log inside it.
Confession - I found this one by accident.  I was exploring a cemetery and saw it.  I took out the canister knowing what I was going to find - and I did!  So I signed it and texted the Spouse where I was so he could log my find online, too.

I always forget how enjoyable it is to go out "caching".  We need to do it a lot more than we do!

    1. That's a fun place to put one! Those little libraries are a neat idea, too. I like to see the random places they show up.
