When my daughter was 7 or so, I was a bit aghast to watch my niece's high school dance team perform to this at a workshop they put on for the younger kids. I think since I've spent so many hours at competitions & recitals since then, I've become more open to appreciating the choreography that goes into such dances and less uptight about the lyrics. Coincidentally, my daughter danced to Van Halen's Hot For Teacher that same year.

This has been a great trip down memory lane! I occasionally hear Give it to Me Good when I shuffle my music. I hear Girls, Girls, Girls all the time on classic rock radio. I had completely forgotten about Brittany Fox! LOL!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sad that they're on classic rock stations?
Delete"God Gave Rock and Roll to You" should really be a hymn in church, shouldn't it - it is so perfect???? So pleased to find you again as I really enjoyed your blog in last year's Challenge :) http://pempispalace.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/g-is-for-great-great-grandma-gertrude.html
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks for stopping back by!
DeleteFamiliar songs from the 80s. The 90s ones not so much. I too have been surprised to hear some selections for dance recital songs. - Marie The Articulate Image
ReplyDeleteAh, dance recitals! My daughter's studio did a whole lot of 80s songs last year - so now when I hear those songs, I can picture her & her team instead of the original videos!
DeleteOh my gosh, Girl's School. This theme is bringing back so many memories! And so many songs I'd forgotten...

But I bet you still remember the words, don't you? :D
DeleteWow! Bill and Ted and kiss. Beth has to be my favorite song by them and destroyer my favorite album. Bill and Ted are funny. Napoleon was just creepy though.
ReplyDeleteMan, it's been a long time since I've watched that movie!
DeleteI just love watching the way they throw their hair around all the time. Guess that's why they're called Hair Bands, huh?

G is for Genesis
There must be special exercises they secretly did, because I think that would really hurt after a while!
DeleteSome great songs, great hair and great memories. Thank you for the little trip.

Thanks!
DeleteGood selection. Such energy!
ReplyDeleteI always wondered how they could play a 2 hour set and not be all huffing & puffing. They were clearly in better shape than I ever was!
Deleteas always, great selection!! trip down memory lane :D
ReplyDeleteJoy @ THE Joyous Living
It's a fun trip!
DeleteThere's a segment on our local radio where kids ring in and sing songs - sometimes the songs they choose are a little questionable and I always wonder if the parents had actually listened to the lyrics. Enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeletePamela @ Highlands Days of Fun
I know! There are some songs I remember enjoying as a kid and now I realize just how questionable they really are!
