Coincidentally - Bon Jovi was just in concert in Detroit last week.
Both my sisters went with their respective friends, but didn't invite me - how rude!!
When they "accidentally" included me in a group text before the show (it probably was an accident - neither is very tech-savvy), and I sent them middle-finger emojis and asked if they were rubbing it in that they were there and I wasn't They claimed they didn't know I liked Bon Jovi or they would have asked me to go! HELLOO!! Who grew up watching them on MTV??? Sheesh.

this one is my "surprise" post - I wouldn't have thought to it really fit in with "hair bands" but they do play it on my Sirius XM HairNation channel. Can't argue with that!

Your blog is going to be a great resource for anyone who is looking for music from this period.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I could have done a lot more for some of the letters, but I stuck with my top 4 for most of them.
DeleteYour link code left out the colon - I repaired the link and posted it below your comment on the AtoZ site, so it should work for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm not into bands at all, hair or no hair! LOL! But you have a great and fun resource here! Have fun in the AtoZ!

Awesome, thanks! I previewed my comment before posting and it looked like it was working, too.
DeleteMy A to Z theme is musical. I enjoyed bands like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard on my way to the heavy side of music. I'm a headbanger. Plenty of hair on show in the 26 metal bands I've chosen to showcase. Anyway, I reckon Bon Jovi sound as good today as they ever did. Slippery when Wet was such a perfect hard rock album that it has not dated at all imo. Def Leppard on the other hand...
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago, I heard a Def Leppard concert on the radio not long before I went to see them live for the first time - and I was momentarily scared - they sounded bad! But when I did see them live, it was awesome. Whew!
DeleteI'll have to go check out your challenge posts now!
I was going to make an argument for Black Sabbath, as they were around in the 80s and were hairy, but really they were still trying to make music from the 70s so it's not the same thing. Real hair metal has a distinct sound.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to tomorrow, lot of good possibilities for "C." :-)
B is for Battle of Beaumont Hamel
Sadly, Black Sabbath won't be making an appearance. Dare I say that they're TOO heavy for my liking? I do have a couple Ozzy songs, tho.
DeleteAwesome Spinal Tap
ReplyDeleteI know, right?? I heard them on the radio the day before this went live, so I hurried & added them in.
DeleteExcellent theme! I am a child of the 80s, grew up demanding my MTV, and lusted after many a frontman with long, big, teased up hair. Jon bon Jovi stole my heart. So sorry about you being left out of the BJ concert invitation. I've seen them 12 or 13 times. They always put on a great show. Your entry today took me on a nice journey down memory lane. Bang, Bang! What a great song!
ReplyDeleteCan't forget about all the posters on the bedroom wall & pages torn out of magazines!
DeleteI forgot all about Danger Danger. I feel like I'm 14 again (that's a good thing)! Sigh, Bon Jovi...
ReplyDelete26 Things To Hate About Writing: B is for Books
I always get my hopes up at my daughter's dance competitions when I see Bang Bang listed as one of the routines...but it's always the Nancy Sinatra song instead, Booooo!
DeleteGreat songs! I saw Bon Jovi when he was here last month. He is such a cutie, even with short hair :) I didn't know about Danger Danger. Thanks for the introduction!

B is for Bon Jovi
LOL - I see what your B topic is!
Deletei remember watching bon jovi on the vh1 and mtv when they played music. I loved living on a prayer. wow, brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I refer to MTV as, too! MTV when they actually played music.
DeleteDoesn't everyone love Bon Jovi? That should be a given. :-)
ReplyDeleteI know, right!!!!!!
Deletejust listened to the ballad of jayne for the first time. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteJoy @ The Joyous Living
It's such a great song!!
DeleteWho wouldn't want to go to a Bon Jovi concert? Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter & I were both offended! We would have been more fun to go with than their friends! Pfft.
DeleteI didn't discover L.A. Guns until recently when I was listening to one of their albums that I'd bought for my brother. They were a pretty good group.

Tossing It Out
I haven't heard any of their recent stuff, but I liked this album a lot.
