What's Up, Weekend? 4/26/20

Since it's still weekend, I'm jumping in on the linkup with the lovely ladies from the Peaceful Posse which are Beth from Coffee Until Cocktails, Lindsay from the Flynnigans and Charlotte from My Pixie Blog.  The purpose of this post is to remember the good and positive things that are going on in life & world, which is especially important during this crazy time.
We're all doing well here.  I think the Spouse was getting a bit stir-crazy so it did him good to go over a buddy's house Friday to help put up an antenna (while maintaining distancing, of course)  His car hasn't moved in about a month so the brakes were rusted solid!
I went over to my sister's Friday (I went last weekend, too) to work with the horses.  It did them good to get out and do something other than be pasture ornaments.  Kisses, aka "my" horse, tends to get bored and acts up, so riding is an adventure at first.   We've been staying in the arena and working on manners.  #1 - standing still while I mount.  #2 - standing still while another horse passes and not try to follow.  #3 - the long side of the arena doesn't mean speed up!

And I was very happy to see that Kisses was listening to ME and not my sister!  When we were done riding, I hopped off to put the poles back where they belong and left Kisses standing (aka ground-tied).  She started to follow me and I heard my sister saying "whoa, WHOA".  I turned around and looked at Kisses and calmly said "stand" and she stopped and just watched me!

I had planned on going out a lot this summer and working with Kisses, since she's my partner for the search & rescue team.  We have a list of things that we are supposed to work on in order to get Mounted SARTECH III certified.  Most of the criteria we will pass with flying colors, but there's a few things that need attention.  I think I'll go out sometime this week during the day and work on her alone, so she's forced to be separated from Remington.

We started doing "Friday Night Chats" on Zoom with the SAR team - the first week we all joked (like I'm sure everyone does) about who may or may not be wearing pants and then were entertained about one of the guys going around doing chores in his goat barn.  This week we did do some "training" - a  short slideshow on how to pack our 24 hour packs.  And a reminder of going thru our packs & seeing what's in there.  I need to do this, since I know I took my flashlight out & my GPS isn't in there, etc.   Next week we're hoping to see some new calves!
The joys of babysitting....
BabyBoy has found his left foot, but not the right one, yet!

And since the yard is starting to green up nicely (ie, the weeds are exploding) I looked in the shed with the fleeting thought of moving flower pots & getting out the lawn mower.....
Uhhhhh.  I think that can wait a few days.
Last fall, I found where *something* had dug a hole in the back of the shed off the right front tire of the mower.  Apparently moth balls didn't faze it and it dug out some more over the winter.

Yay.
We were going to try to get handprints, too but BabyBoy tends to keep his little fists clutched and we couldn't open his fingers long enough to dry off drool, paint & press, so we will wait until he's older.
We haven't done much today - I took Rusty outside since he was being really annoying.  It's been windy all day but it's close to 60* so the bedroom window is open.  That makes the girl cats happy but he wants to be OUT.   He's such a handsome boy!

Hope everyone has a great week!

  1. My first visit to your blog! Must admit I was a bit dubious about a blog called Tales from the Love Shaque (!) as I've stumbled upon a few erotic blogs while participating in the A to Z challenge. While I don't mind what other people write about at all, it's not really my thing! So to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Yours is a lovely blog.
